Why COOHGRUBS

Global Warming & Climate Change

Did you know? 'Just in the last 650,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advance and retreat, with the abrupt end of the last ice age about 11,700 years ago marking the beginning of the modern climate era — and of human civilization.' (NASA, 2020)

It's time to take matters into our own hands and try to work towards a better environment. There are effects from global warming and climate change that can be seen in our world today. Shrunken glaciers, forest fires, intense heat waves, the rise of sea levels and more. The state of our environment is deteriorating due to greenhouse gases produced by human activities.

Gases that contribute to 'The Greenhouse Effect'

- Water vapor
- Carbon dioxide Co2 (Released through natural processes like respiration, volcano eruptions. This includes deforestation, land use changes and burning fossil fuels.)
- Methane (hydrocarbon gas produced by natural sources and human activities such as decomposition of waste in landfills and manure management with domestic livestock)
- Nitrous oxide (produced by soil cultivation practices)
- Chlorofluorocarbons CFCs (synthetic compounds entirely of industrial origin)

How Does Black Soldier Fly Larvae Help?

Let's call it BSFL. They are not only fast growing and harmless yet they do not spread diseases. They are the masters of bioconversion where they feed on organic waste to grow and converts into a nutritious protein source for animals. This helps to reduce emissions through composting as the BSFL's carbon footprint is minimal.

Cultivating and farming BSFL helps to decrease landfills, management of biowaste treatments, reduce 'The Greenhouse Effect' and feed our planet.

How Am I Contributing?

For every 1 pound of BSFL, there is about 20 pounds of organic food waste recycled. You will be personally contributing in reducing the emission of methane into our atmosphere. Yay you!
